Halloween Inspiration

With Halloween quickly approaching, I thought I would share our Halloween costumes over the years, many of which are gender neutral! I have to admit I am not a HUGE Halloween fan, but it is fun to see them magically transformed by a costume. They get so excited! I have still been able to persuade the girls to join in on a theme, but I am not sure how much longer that will last. I go back and forth between letting them come up with their own ideas or me trying to convince them… you can see how that has played out πŸ™‚ All of the costumes are linked below.

2018 – Last year we chose a candy theme, and the big girls definitely loved these costumes. I got them from Chasing Fireflies and waited for a 25% off code.

The girls love it when we participate but again not my fav πŸ™‚

2017 – My husband and I both went to Randolph Macon College in Ashland, VA. I actually played basketball there, and we go back to a lot of the games, so it was easy to persuade my two older girls to sport basketball uniforms. You may think that trick-or-treating as a referee isn’t as exciting, but my daughter Molly loved it. She is quite a pistol, and she thought the ref’s whistle was super cool. Even though she had no clue what she was, she owned her role! Macie dressed as RMC’s mascot, the yellow jacket πŸ™‚

Time out from Mol
These would be adorable with brothers and the girl a referee or all boys!
Our sweet cousin Millie was the cheerleader!
My nephew was this adorable lion, also linked below

2016 – Probably the easiest costume (and my all-time favorite) were the 80’s workout girls! My second child Leyton protested at first because she wanted to be this peacock from PB kids. We went to a Halloween party a few days before Halloween, and she wore the peacock, but after seeing how much fun the other girls were having, she wanted to rock 80’s attire for the actual day. I am tempted to bring this back for all four of my girls. I just used bathing suits/leotards we already had, and I bought cheap sweatshirts and cut the neckline out for the 80’s off-the-shoulder look. I also braided their hair that morning, and the crimped look was perfect! Accessories linked below.

2015 – There’s no crying in baseball!! My second favorite costumes were the Rockford Peaches; although, if I knew I was going to have four girls, I would have saved this one. My favorite movie as a little girl was a League of Their Own, and my girls love it too. I convinced the hubs to be Jimmy Dugan which the girls loved!

how cute are these guys:)
Molly was just a baby so we had her be a strawberry, random, but it kept her warm

2014 – When Logan was 3, she was dying to be this princess fairy from Pottery Barn Kids, but we completed the fairy tale with her very own dragon. Leyton was a total rockstar and never once questioned why she was wearing a big ol’ dragon costume while her sister was dressed as a sweet little fairy. The two together looked like they were destined to live happily-ever-after.

2013 – My my first Halloween of trying to coordinate the two girls, I went for a simple cat and mouse theme. I absolutely loved the mouse costume, and it was just perfect for that age because the girls were both warm and comfortable.

This didn’t go with their theme but how cute was my husband dressed as a fireman? A few years in a row we have visited friends in Media, PA, and they have the cutest Halloween parade in their town.

2012 – This was Leyton’s first Halloween, and I was a little lazy (or maybe just tired), and both girls went as ghosts.

I just made these myself πŸ™‚

2011 – For our first-ever Halloween, we were this adorable pig! I still love this costume (the bow! the shoes!) and all the excitement of the first time dressing your kid for Halloween.

Those cheeks tho….
