For my daughters 5th birthday party in December, we had a Gingerbread theme. This could easily be a boy’s birthday or even just a holiday party! It’s a super easy theme for this time of year because of all the holiday decorations out.
The main activity for the kids was decorating gingerbread houses. I lucked out and found these gingerbread houses at IKEA right before Christmas. They are super cheap, but they have to be assembled. My mom and I assembled them the night before the party. I am hoping they come back in stock before Christmas, linked below. I set out a house and a tube of frosting for each guest, and then I put candy on the table that they could use to decorate.
For my centerpiece, I found gingerbread men at Hobby Lobby, and I have linked some similar below, but really any holiday decorations would work. The trees are from Target, and they usually have these every year.
I bought festive paper cups to fill with different types of candy, and the kids loved grazing on the sweets while decorating.
I purchased the invitations on ETSY. This exact one is no longer available, but I linked a couple more that are super cute. There are so many fun options.
I just bought a solid plastic tablecloth, but then I covered it with holiday coloring paper which I love for so many reasons. This gives the kids another activity during the party when they have finished decorating their gingerbread house. I usually buy a few of these for Christmas and use them all month.
The cake was from Pearls here in Richmond, VA, and they did an awesome job! I also got these cake pops from there, and I added the “Sweets” label on top. These were the party favors along with the gingerbread cookies below. I purchased the “Sweets” and “Sweet Treats” signs from the same Etsy shop. I bought gingerbread cookies and just placed them in baggies with the tag. These would be easy to find on Etsy, or you could even find a free one on Pinterest. I also linked a few below.
I found some cute holiday boxes for the kids to carry their gingerbread houses home. I have linked a few similar ones below. Clover our elf even got in on the fun 🙂
This party was such a jolly way to celebrate a December birthday… and one convenient part… we enjoyed the decorations through Christmas! Happy Holidays!
